Glazing Application Engineer

Merck Window Technologies develops, manufactures and sells dynamic glazing solutions eyrise™ based on Liquid Crystal Windows. LC Windows can change their transmission with the switch of a button, providing control over light and heat entering a building and bringing comfort and privacy to the users. Merck’s switchable materials are the core of these switchable windows. Merck Window Technologies provides dynamic glazing solutions to key users for applications in architecture worldwide.
We are looking for a product Application Engineer to join our Development team.
Your role
You are responsible for designing new switchable LC Window solutions for facade and interior architectural applications to broaden our product portfolio. You develop new solutions aligned with customers’ expectations. You will work closely together with M&S, R&D and Engineering. Your activities and responsibilities include:
o Propose, develop and implement solutions and interfaces for our products for integration into standard available solutions in the building market (e.g. framing systems, sliding doors, operable windows, etc.) aligned with product management on market and user requirements

o Assure development to match norm compliance in the building industry
o Act as the expert in integration of our products into the building industry
Who you are
You have a technical background (BSc, MSc or PhD), at least 5 years working experience in glass or façade environment. You are solution-driven and pragmatic, curious and hands-on. Furthermore, your experience and skills include:
o Background in building engineer, mechanical engineering, building physics, structural engineering or a related field
o Experience in the glass industry, façade engineering, architecture or structural engineering
o Broad knowledge of norms in the building industry
Add-on Skills in: Teamwork, Project management, Autonomy
o Ability to communicate on technical topics with other departments and external partners
o Language skills: fluent in English. Dutch and German are of added value
Nice to have:
o Experience in cooperation with external partners and technical writing skills
