Campus Germany

Designed by Berlin-based architects LAVA, CAMPUS GERMANY was built as the German representation at the World EXPO 2020 Dubai. The focus is on sustainability, to align with the expo’s central theme: ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. Situated in the Expo’s ‘Sustainability’ district, the pavilion is built around these principles and features an interactive exhibition on creative sustainable solutions alongside new innovations. In the Middle East, solar protection is not a luxury. It can contribute to create a comfortable light and temperature environment while reducing a lot of air conditioning energy. Even after sunset, when the Expo is still open, the architects wanted to create mystery around the inside of the pavilion: a dynamic facade is perfectly capable to switch between unveiling and hiding light coming from the inside of the building.
